About

***the visuals provided by the viewfinder of a camera have left me in awe since the age of fourteen. my father’s Mamiya TLR amazed me with its mirrored image. the mechanics of capturing a moment, provided wonderment.

the effect of restricting the view opens the mind to differing perspectives. paradoxically, the myopic view of the camera’s lens can expand the visual in more ways than it restricts. the lens allows for new & different ways with which one perceives what we see, perhaps often, & can take on a whole new context once isolated from its environment.

the camera has given me a thousand eyes with which to view the world. it has imbued me with an ability to see from many & new perspectives, differing, perhaps only slightly, from those available on first blush.

i’ve captured images with 35mm, 120/220 roll, and 4x5 view cameras for over 40 years. all have been as unique as they are alike. all have taught me lessons about perspective. those lessons have taught me about life, as well as photography.

for me, the capturing of a moment, the expression of a perspective, and a love of the mechanics that enables it all to come together; the waiting for, or production of the light, the best angle, the freezing of, or expression of a movement, is, for me what the camera was made for. it’s what photography is about, what photography really is.***

every image on this site was created since my introduction to digital photography. while i have thousands of slides & negatives from 35mm to 4"x5", i have concentrated my efforts shown digitally, to images captured digitally, & i invite your comments.
